Best oil to protect machinery ?

I went out to the shed earlier to mooch about for an hour and was amazed to see the amount of condensation on the lathe and mill, the water was literally dripping off both machines.
Aerosol 3 in 1 oil is normally what i use on any bare metal surfaces to stop rust but it appeared to emulsify with the water and was white on the metal. I wiped off the lot with rag and coated the machines with wd40 instead.
Whats the best thing to use in this situation to protect from rust ?

I used it to protect all my machinery when it was in rather draughty leaky barn for a year whilst I built my workshop. Worked very well except where I missed bits !!!!!!

Have a look at this stuff.
"Liberon Jade Oil displaces moisture from the surface of metals. It is ideal to ‘dry’ metals after using Antiquing Fluid for Copper and Brass. Jade Oil will also help retard tarnishing after polishing by depositing a thin protective film on the surface of the metal. "

I have piece of steel sheet on the outside of my workshop that I brushed with it about 4 months back, there is a hint of rust on the edges.
I use it on my indoor sculptures., and am considering chucking it all over my motor bike.

Weird stuff smells like old ladies wee, takes about 24 hours to dry and flows really well to coat and get into gaps.

I will second that, Or insulate the workshop, I used to have to run a propane space heater & the walls & roof ran & dripped condensation with all my tools going rusty. I insulated the whole lot with Kingspan offcuts & its dry as a bone now. Machines get wiped with slideway oil & stay shiny & clean.

We always used Shell Ensis fluid to protect any bare metalwork when stripping steam turbine for major overhaul, It's really good.

i have used these on bikes and engines-
acf50, good but expensive,
fs365,ok but too watery

wondered about using oil and using a hand pump spray gun,
but not sure what can be used to thin it down for easy spraying

anybody made their own mixture?

and a heater as well as u cant condense cold air i have a a large building drier but its no use without heat in building concrete floor and tin sheeting are a nightmare i just spray machinery with wd 40 and cover them up and then wipe down before use

I had always used WD40, buy it in 5L and put in a suitable pump sprayer.

I've always found it ok but you do need to keep applying it as it seems to dry out.

I was due a new bottle and also bought some Swarfega Duck Oil at the same time, it is more expensive but it feels much more oily than WD40. When wiping tools down to put away the sheen it leaves seems much better than WD40.

I work on machines (forklifts, loaders) in some often harsh environments.
We have tried several products and have settled on products available from a supplier here in Australia called Lanotec. http://www.lanotec.com.au/pages/products

It is wool grease based and seems to work fairly well in protecting moving parts on the machines. Some machines work in chemical plants, skin and hide plants, salt works and concrete plants. We use different products accordingly.
Being wool grease, it is claimed to be less harmful to us and the environment.
