How can you earn the most money from welding

My sisters son has just been made redundant again. he makes steel structures.using mig
he is looking at doing a course in tig. and has asked me for some advice so im asking you all what pays the most in the welding game

Hmmmmm if its money you wish then weldings not the game!!!!....

Honestly most of its in pipe work, nuclear etc, a willingness to travel often overseas is also needed.....Its a matter of getting on short contracts earning lots by pulling the hours... BUT remembering that you could be out of work for a couple of months....If hes young has a good head on his shoulders and is willing to work hard then he can earn the money....

Oh don't get me started Snowy!
Seriously, Transco pipe welders used to get paid top dollar, although that may have all changed now (probably low cost imported like everything else! ). There is still well paid, skilled work in some shipyards but, again, that is all 'hand to mouth' type work...relying on government funding.
Gorden Brown hasn't got much time left, why not try for his job?

Always been beyond me that one. The company goes bust because they have nothing left, owing money to creditors (suppliers), banks & HM Revenue. HM Revenue gets the first cut of anything, followed by the Banks (same rosy club you know ) with anything left over split between the creditors...usually feck all...so who pays the Receiver?

She that knows tells me receiver get his wedge first ,then employees wages,then "prefferential creditors"normaly banks and Hm revenue then suppliers may get some of anything left ........

There's a limit about £200 / week for wages, and if the company has run out of money, nothing in lieu of notice and minimum redundancy that you have to practically beg for paid by the state, for 13 years service I got sod all,

The company I worked for went bump about 3 years ago and the recievers said there was no money for employees but gave me details of a government agency to contact.
I filled in the form and for 6 years service got just over £3k

It was over six years ago now, I looked into appealing but because I immediately set up my own business and started earning straight away, the rules say that I have suffered no financial loss and am not entitled to any compensation, If I had just gone home and felt sorry for myself like some of my ex colleagues , I probably would have netted over £4500.

Mate of mine was QC on oil/gas barges,

All the welding was done by indian and mexican welders,

If you want to make good money buy a dozen wagons learn to screem down the phone and become a haulier........
