A length of steel wire from an offcut of SWA to hold hoses onto barbs as I never have any hose clamps. Wrap it around once and twist it with pliers till the "tail" breaks off and it's nice and secure.
Do that most of the time too, but wrap around twice and the pressure is more uniform and the double thickness doesn't dig into the pipe so much.
Re. Pinching keys through the letter box, if it's a Yale lock, just poke a twig through the letter box, flip the lock up and let yourself in. It was easier than finding my keys while at uni, there was a special twig and everything

Say you have a 16mm hole but you want to put a 20 in, or a 20mm hole and want a 25. Yes, I know cone cutters / step drills etc but they go blunt. Starrett have the "OOPS" allowing holesaws of two different arbor sizes to be used but no good for the smaller sizes:
But for using two of the smaller sized arbor cutters together........I think I'll call mine the "FOOKIT". First, get yourself a 1/2" UNF 20tpi x 2 1/2" long bolt and cut the head off, file neatly and de-burr:
Then screw on a couple of Starretts:
Job done. Needs a 13mm chuck so I've turned down the plain shank down to 10mm so I can use in my right angle drill too. You can do the same with a bigger dia UNF bolt to couple two of the larger Starretts and again you need to turn down the shank.

As per the post following yours it works by using the smaller Starrett as the pilot. I made it mainly for electrical work where you might want to go up from a 16 to 20mm gland or 20 to 25mm conduit into a back box or indeed if you made a f*** up and should have drilled 25mm in the first place! Has other applications too. Our chippy at work uses one as some replacement locks are bigger diameter than the old ones.
Works a treat.
As to material.........whatever, I've drilled 70/80mm dia in 5mm st/st plate with a Starrett before now. Use the Morse brand cobalt ones (red) and they're mustard!

my take on the oops tool.
been struggling to learn screwcutting on lathe so took bits to club and asked one of guys to show me.
had go myford super 7 ( god what a lovely bit of kit) and showed me what red to at home where only bit i seemed to get right was turning lathe on.
had to finish it with thread file as rotating centre seized on last run causing minor damage.
made it to accept adaptor i got with set so can use all sizes on it.

as long as your original hole is bigger than 25mm you can put two cutters on one arbor
for inlarging a deep hole in wood with a spade bit ( with a steady hand )dip in with a steped cone cutter to the diameater you want and then you goo for steady with the spade bit
