Best cheap/free drawing package for Mac?

Hi everyone,

I’m keen to get some opinions on what’s out there for basic/quick sketches. I’ve got the full Adobe package on my Mac but wondering if there was anything else that suited fabricators for railings, stairs, structural beams etc. Any suggestions would be really appreciated

Been using this a fair bit for designing furniture and roofs.

Easy enough to get to grips with and plenty for me to forward to customers.

Usually draw as I would build to make sure my designs are feasible.

I use it for virtually everything.

So this simple workbench is a typical example. All it is is a few groups of simple rectangles, pulled out to a given thickness. I input my stock, full sheets, 4x2's or whatever, then cut, paste and assemble.

The plan is fully dimensioned and any problem areas ironed out before cutting. I can plan for the least waste or easiest cut. Well worth a look.

It is a relatively simple tool but it helps me to find the simplest solution.

I use it more for thinking than anything else. Designs will go through multiple iterations until "the obvious" solution pops up.
