budget up to 500 and to weld up to 6mm if needs be or would i be better of going single phase would also like to run the welder of a generator if anyone could reccomend a good welder and powerful enough generator to run the welder would really help me out have rough idea on welders but not generators cheers
If you're looking do a lot of work using 6mm then you'll need a machine of around 220A+, maybe even 250 to avoid a poor duty cycle.
If it's just the occasional bit of 6mm then something around 180A would do you.
You won't be able to run anything that size from a 13A supply though.
I wouldn't be looking at Clarke for machines that size, up to 150A they're great value but as you go bigger there's better machines about for similar money.
You're going to be looking at a pretty big generator too.
