Just repaired a little hf leakage on a unit I bought the other day. Easy job replaced a worn bit of insulation. Put it back together and thought best to test it out with a few runs and checking it strikes at good distances. I stupidly thought it was a good idea to do a couple on the bench after all it's 10mm thick and could do with a sand. Well you would be surprised. I was. 4 x 50mm runs at 120 amps not too close to each other has resulted in one of the over hanging corners to turn up. Stupid thing to do really I didn't expect 10mm to warp that easy. It's useable but my perfectionist attitude will see it re topped at some point. Gutted.

Yeah I suppose it can't hurt it's scrap as it is so worth a try.

Whats above the table?? you could drag it over to a beam or iff you have a lifting RSJ or something and get an acro on it.

Either do as Fazerrus says and pull it back with a bit of heat or put a block behind it while its hot and knock it back with a knockometer, its only 10mm, and will move easily

Nobody to borrow off? As your upping your tooling look at a small Albee o2 and a small propane, the smallo2 don't last long but no rental on this kit at all and propane is very readily available.

You know I was being silly will my 3mm topped smaller bench and got a massive hill appear, I just stopped and it cooled and flattened having bracing at either side gave it nowhere to go on cooling (surprised me somewhat).

If your plate will come off easy it can always been sent off for rolling out flat at a shop with rolls of suitable size.. I have had this discussion lately over the 2.5 x 1.5 fixture bench I am building. 348 16mm laser-cut holes going into it plus a heap of M10 clearance holes around the outside edges for tie downs. You see some times plates just pop up while being cut, through abnormalities or undetectable stresses in the stock.

Got to be worth a go with some heat even if it needs more persuasion than just heating correctly as a decent size bit of 10mm is got to be £120 plus to buy

If you get some bottles Richard and charge anyone for oxy fuel on small bottles think £60 PH pro-rata for ten mins £10. Its an expensive process there days

I'd probably borrow them as I've no real use for gas cutting/burning/welding equip. Apart from straightening my bench that is.

One of those things, once you have it then it gets used loads. Stuck fast threads, cutting stuff up quick, bending stuff you cant quite do cold and yes straightening. Gas Welding well you cant with propane but you can braze (things like lathe tools or bike bits etc)

Yeah there is always going to be an occasion when they are handy (like now). I have a little porta pack set at work so I'll borrow it for a weekend and attempt to pull my corner back. Cheers for the advice all.
