Bending steel pipe

I want to put some free form
Bends in some 1/2 bsp and some
3/4 bsp steel thick wall tube.

When I’ve done this in the past with copper pipe, I have filled it with sand before bending it whilst warming with a torch.

Will I need to fill steel tube with sand or is it more resilient to creasing?

On old 1/2 inch bsp I can get down to 4" radius working cold without any special precautions. But the tube I have is very thick wall 3/16+.

what about a cheapo Chinese hydraulic bender.....? £80'ish........

Where are you there are loads of folks, with benders of one form or another

Those cheapo benders that frank horton mentions are not bad at all...i made a bike paddock stand with mine a couple years ago
