Bench grinder wheels

The wheels on my 6" bench grinder appear to be made of cheese so I need to source a couple of new ones. They'll be used for various odd jobs but primarily for shaping/sharpening HSS lathe tools so presumably Aluminium Oxide would be the best bet.

Any suggestions on a supplier of decent wheels and what combination of grits to get?

Have a look on RDG tools, I bought a sil.carb. wheel for sharpening Tungsten bits. Seem to carry quite a bit of stock.

I bought an industrial crap & decker 8" quite a few yrs ago at a ''bargain'' price, I put new bearings in it[cheap] but when I went to buy new wheels it wasn't such a bargain!! allthough I bought them & I've used it for the past 20 odd yrs so it owes me nowt,as you say alluminium oxide for hss etc, I have a wolf with silicone carbide wheels solely for tungsten carbide tools & masonry drills they're not much good for hss, I bought them from machine mart.

yes astro_al, I was hacked off with the price of replacement wheels, still we live & learn, I can't grumble though, over the yrs I've had more ''scoops'' than ''duds'' at autojumbles & boot sales.

Jeez Al, that's hellish, we buy 3 foot inserts for the crankshaft grinder and they're about the same price and we think that's expensive For a bolt on job, that's scandalous. Tried looking for Norton/ Carborundum Universal etc? Can outfit my cutter grinder (4" flared cup, straight, dished and a diamond for carbide) for less - come on China, where are you?

theres some 6ich fine grinding wheels on ebay new 6 quid inc del . and coarse ones in there shop. might be worth a punt for the price item no 230568886215 looks like they flog other grinding disks and engineering stuff in there shop 2 or another 230568309440

I was just looking for a new cup wheel, I was looking on THIS site, wheels were around a fiver a time. This was the first site I looked on, it had loads of wheels but the cup wheel page was blank;-)

I had just gone to that page from the google link, when I had a further look around I found them. Cup wheel is what it sounds like, cupped.
