Bench Grinder/Polisher

I'm looking to buy a cheap(ish) bench grinder though in reality it'll probably get used just as much for polishing.

I was looking at the Screwfix Titan 400W one:

Has some mixed reviews, and is essentially a bench grinder but I'm hoping it could be adapted to take polishing mops with the relevant adaptor eg:

Anyone used these adaptors or have experience of the Titan 400W grinder? Or would I be better off going for a dedicated polishing machine?

hi there,
don't bother with the grinder polisher, they have not enough power that's unless ur polishing T spoons.....u'll spend more time waiting for it to pick up speed than working.......I looked for a dedicated power polisher on ebay and a worn out industrial unit was just madly priced.....mine's made from scrap sections and just bought some self centering bearings, (cast iron 4 bolt flange) with a 30mm shaft.....as I can't screw cut let alone do a tapering screwcut I bought the adaptors and they work fine, remember there's left and right hand.......
with a 3hp motor mine can run all day, dosen't get hot and u cant stall it ..........I'd show a photo but still not got to grips with posting a photo...........
it just depends on what ur gonna polish and once u have one ur jobs will just grow.......start of with a proper unit u won't be sorry..........

The spindles work OK but forget that grinder unless you are model making. What is it you are looking to polish? An electric drill and a 3" mop with Solvol Autosol will get a good polish on alloy if you are patient and prepare the metal with wet & dry to 800 grit. Diving straight in with a mop on bare metal needs multiple mop types, soaps, technique and above all a powerful spindle as Frank says.
