I'd start off by looking at local tech colleges, particularly if you're looking at an evening course. Four years ago I did a twelve week evening course on TIG welding at the college in Glenrothes.

I can recommend New College Lanarkshire in Motherwell , the instructors are great , and the facilities are good, you can do MIG or TIG or ARC - 12 weeks about £120 , they get booked up so you may have to wait.
I did TIG originally as I was brought up on Gas welding as a youth , then went back to do Arc as I was self taught and learned loads. Might do the MIG one as my last training was a course paid for by work some 40 yrs ago.

Jeez... just looked at current price for the course; £475!!!

I looked at the course at Clydebank and it was best part of £400 so 10 miles travel to Motherwell was well worth it .Practical Welding - New College Lanarkshire | New College Lanarkshire
