Beginner questions about DA sander, preparation, and spray gun

Hi all,

I have a couple of question for ye.
I am trying to get into the DIY paint business for my cars :-)

I have bought a air DA sander and I would like to oil it.
My problem is I don't know how.
So I have seen on the side, it is written oil daily with a small arrow in the direct of the air line entry.
I have check and there is a small filter so I suppose it is where we put the oil?
I also wondering which can of oil should be used?
I have made some pictures but my computer is tempermental these days, so I can upload then...

About preparation before painting, I am wondering if the sanding could be done using a DA sander or if it has to be manual, and which grit to use for respray on the top of the existing paint?

About the spray gun, I was thinking about getting one of them

I won't really put more money into it. It will be my first gun, I know that a good gun won't make me a good sprayer but it might avoid some problem.

I will need to check the compressor specification in the workshop, I know it is 200L but that does not give me the CFM.

What do you think about the spray gun?

both guns look canny 4 the price i just use 3 or 4 drops of either 3 in one oil or ordinary engine oil in the air inlet

go with the devilbiss,you find it will fan wider then the kestral.
get oil from that supplier,and just one or two drop into the airline neck of the tool.
i know you can use 3 in 1 but better the right oil.

Machine Mart do a small 'in-line' oiler that fits between the air line and air tool, that way you could keep it attached for the air tools that need lubricating and unclip it when you attach your spray gun etc that dont need oiling

I use a Mirka DA, very light and simple to use with one hand, highly recommended.
It takes a while to master the DA as its like anything its a skill, But it will save a lot of time.

Jaykays right go with the DeVillbiss, Its worth going HVLP if your hoping to do a fair bit, you will need a good size compressor either way. Its always a good idea to have a seperate line for tools that involve oil.

christ there crap dont bother. do u want one free . i might not have binned it yet . it will last 5 mins and over oil the machine im using sanders and die grindes drills ect and ive had them 30 years regular use just 3 drops of oil when ive finished using then a short run to get the lube through. that stops any condensation getting in the bearings and the rotor making them go rusty . so next time out ready to go why sh././te airlines up when only ones needed its .not exactly a production line machine thats used 24 seven and never gets serviced

I think I will go with the 3-4 drops a day of 3 in 1 oil.
It will also be usefull for the sewing machine and the upholstery work ahead of me.

Afraid Brightspark is correct, use 3-in1 or "light machine oil", and if he can't find his in-line-oiler - you can have mine for the postage costs - seems better at oiling outside than inside

Thanks for the help guys, I think I will forget about the inline oil thing.

I should have no problem to find 3in1 in the hardware shop.

Quick question does a filter, and gauge or any use just before the spray gun.
I am just making a order of tool?
