been to hospital and...

got a shock...a couple of weeks ago I had a scan (half body) to check on my lungs...
I had a bad cough for nearly 3 months all is ok but.
they have found a growth on my left kidney and they think it is cancer.
they the surgeon/doctors decided it is best to have it removed.
this is not what I expected. the good news I will be able to live a normal(well sort of still an ol fool).
just hope I don't catch any thing while I'm in there.****** ******.
well I suppose it comes with age... john

Good luck.......I am sure it'll be ok. My Dad had a lung removed 2 years ago.....yeah he is not as active as he was but it has made no difference to him really.

hi guys I came home on Saturday after noon.
the operation went well and I will find out in about 2 weeks what the tumor is in my kidney.
the next day I had believe it or not stake and kidney pie for dinner.I said its not mine is it?
although the nurse's were very good at taking care of me ,
but I found it a little depressing seeing other patients with tubes and things coming out of their bodies.
but I had a choice.
so I decided to suffer at home rather than there.
anyway a part from heavy pain and things I'm doing find.
mobility is vastly reduce. it takes me about 5 minutes to get out of bed and the same getting out of the chair .
and I'm bleeding bored to tears at not being able to do any thing apart from watching tv 'n' pc.

get doing some research of future welding projects. order yourself a new power tool or something. well, it always cheers me up.

If you can use a PC can you master google sketchup or something similar and spend your time drawing up plan and things to fab later when you're mobile?

Don't try to do anything too soon, wait till the doctor tells you you are ready and just carry on watching the telly and using the computer for entertainment. I ordered some dvds of old series like Nightingales and Eerie Indiana from Play.com because the TV schedule was so crap and it cheered me up no end, I got some books in as well. Keep your pecker up, get better and stay positive it's all you can do.
