i agreed to help out a mate who has been given a mightynig 100 like mine but no gas only. He has no experience at all so i wad going to show him the basics today. Picked up a reel of .8mm gasless and went out.
set up, and started running beads for him to see what i was going. It was then i noticed that something wasn't right. Unstable arc, didn't sound right, burnback during welding, stuttering and so on. I checked the earth, all good on shiny metal and new clamp, checked the connections inside, all tight, checked the liner, brand new steel liner, swan neck liner is fine. Kept going over everything trying to find a fault as mine is much smoother even with gasless. Then i happened to glance at the tips box. 1.0mm tips...think that might have something to do with it. Had a look though ny van and found a few .8mn tips and it welds like it should now.

what's up with the laptop?
that'll take some sorting, my daughters laptop is like triggers broom if you remember that from only fools and horses it's had more keyboards, screens and power connections than I can remember
