Bearing Steel?

Good afternoon people of the forum.

I'm new to this site but have found bits to be very interesting and informative. Hopefully I'm in the right part to post this question. Please feel free to move me if I’m not.

Is there any specific steel you would recommend for "bearing steel" putting up with 15kg but would put up with double if not triple should anyone decide they want to have a dance on it. It’s for a conveyer we're currently making and all the suppliers I’ve rung have told me politely where to go due to liability reasons. All I'm after is a "this should do the job" answer. The diameter we need is 20mm and 25mm solid round for linier bearings to run on. I have rung the bearing company as well but they have yet to get back to me if they ever do.

It depends what you want to wear. If the wheels are softer than the "rail" the wheels will wear out first. If you want the wheels to last the longest they need to be harder than the rail.

Bearings first preferably as the customer chose the bearings

do you know what the rail is made from, if not, you could use mild steel or En8

If you are using linear bearings, why not use the proper shaft for them.

Any more info on the application? I'm surprised the bearing supplier hasn't given you info on, or spec'd the shaft.
