Battery support charger

I’m looking to get a battery support charger for doing general diagnostics on cars and looking for advice. Had an issue also recently whilst bleeding an abs module and had to stop due to the battery getting low 2/3 of the way through, have a headlight unit that’ll need coded to the car etc that sort of thing.

This is diy for occasional use so don’t want to spend more than I need to, I’ve seen 20 amp unit for £100, 30 amp for £200 and this 50 amp for £269 all from Ring

Personally no experience of it, but this seems to be well regarded for 'home' use https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SK650764.html Anything less than 40A is a waste of money IMO, my previous work one was a Traction 50A charger / BSU and that struggled with more recent cars, I now have a GYSFlash 100A.

Before anyone starts on about the cost, consider the cost of just one bricked module - whether home or workshop use. Diagnostics will abort the process if the terminal voltage drops below a safe threshold, usually 12.50VDC - if you're lucky, then you'll be able to recover from Bootloader mode...

The other option is to have a set of sturdy, long jump leads and a second vehicle to use as a BSU - not many cars need >150A.
