Batteries!

I can only assume the cold weather has decided to attack all of my batteries over the last week, hopefully this is the last of it!

Last Saturday 2 torches packed up, Thursday the batteries in the wireless thermostat stopped working, yesterday morning the race car wouldn’t start, today the lorry wouldn't start and the booster pack didnt have enough in it to get it going.

Having taken the lorry batteries off and the booster pack to pieces, the tester shows one of the lorry batteries as weak, one of the booster pack batteries as weak-bad and the race battery as bad!

Just ordered a new battery for the van.

I bought a new battery in August last year

Van was in the garage 3 weeks in sept and 4 weeks in Nov. They killed the battery. Barely holds charge now

Nothing like a cold spell to highlight any weakness in a battery.

took mine of the mobile comp last month and put it on charge for a few hours it didnt need it but not worth ruining it to find out. its a bigun of a range rover

Is that why the new batteries in my welding helmet died over night? Be a bit rubbish if it did!

The race car had a smart trickle charger on, so was hoping that would have maintained the battery. Never mind - better I find out now whilst I’m not in any real need for any of them, rather when I’m going somewhere

I thought I would try one of these gadgets on the trucks, permanently mount it in a box with a charger so I can just run a lead out.

Yeah but it's nothing to do with the manufacturer mate

Van Has an earth leak I've not been able to find battery will drain over a week or so.

If it's standing for any length of time I stick the trickle charger on it.

The garage wouldnt have bothered.and just jumped it and ran it for a little while everytime. Tool its toll.

It's evident in a couple of dash lights glowing. Non issue in normal circumstances so never devoted any time to it but with lockdown and standing it became an issue.

Is there a value in wrapping some insulation around batteries this time of year,like drivers of yesteryear,my grandad placed his old coat over his engine.just a thought?

As long as they remember too take it off unlike a certain person did with there hot rod, took out the rad, hoses, mechanical fan and the bonnet needed work ! hasn't done it since tho

Did the power ever go off to the charger? If the power goes off to mine, I have to re-set it before it will start charging. Sometimes even a flicker of a power cut is enough.

It's an Iveco. That's a factory fit feature.
I'm fed up dealing with Iveco's and batteries that go flat. I can't even remember the last time I had to deal with battery drain problems, but the past couple months I've had to deal with 3 Daily's with battery drain problems.

Yeah. Reading through the iveco pages I got that impression too.

Not an issue in everyday use but hasn't been a standard 12 months

Its not been unplugged or power cut intentionally, and don’t think there has been any power cut, but you never know what might have happened overnight.
