Bathroom and kitchen light advice please ...

ok guys today's question .... 2seperate queries

This bathroom light is this within the regs built in 1995 ?I could potentially reach it from the shower although there is a shower curtain . I'm thinking of changing it for a proper bathroom fitting

Obviously the existing batten fitting has the 'loop in ' terminals (is that the correct term ? ) I can join the cables in the loft can someone recommend a wago type terminal junction box. Or can I just get a pvc enclosure and use the wagos I already have ??

The extractor is a low voltage one btw



Second query got a fire rated downlighter what's the closest I can install it next too a 3x2 section of timber ,and plaster board ? Cheers fellas

I think that light needs to be low voltage now, ie a transformer in the ceiling....

I like the down lighters but I have 300mm of glassfibre insulation in the loft above the bathroom , although I think I ca get hoods or something to give some airspace ....

just get an ip rated enclosed led fitting for the bathroom .you can fit fire rated 240v recessed lights in the bathroom and a shower rated one above the shower no need for fire hoods just 25mm clearance of insulation round them they need to be rcd protected .if your just changing the center one that doesn't apply

Thanks @brightspark was waiting for you too turn up allways good advice mate , any ideas on junction box ? Or can u usually get the loop in wires into the ip rated fitting ? Without it being too tight . ?

the3 wires will go in ok and wont overheat if its led. if your not happy u you can join them in a box in the attic and just drop one lead in make and type is personal preference I tend to use chocbox with strip conectors inside but everyone to there own

I've got wagos I'll just get a pvc box and glands ? Or can u just use 20 mm grommets ?

I use Enlight E6 Pro for our downlights, LED, fire rated and IP65. I've even used them in the garage door soffit to provide night time illumination.

if the cables coming out of the roof are long enough to pull through just make them off in the light .if not joint above

No room in the light to terminate 3sets of wires
Maintaince free joint box above in loft

That pull cord looks like it's in zone 1.
I'd get that moved as well!

240v ip rated fans can be fitted over a shower if there on an rcd and above 2.25m above floor level its out of the zone I did look in to it as I had to replace a few that were above the bath. I thought you could but I asked my mate who is an inspector and he confirmed it

@dobbsic. The pullcord Is for the extractor fan (12volt) where should it be ???? I need it right as it's gonna be rented out and I'm having a electrical condition test or whatever it's called soon and want things to be spot on ....

Is it possible to have a humidistat switching it ?? I don't want it off the light as it's quite noisy running all the time if u in the Barth

if your renting out just put it on the light with the timer cos the tenants wont open the windows and it runs more than a humidistat
