Barnes minibrake press brake

Hi

I have a Barnes 48" x 15 T pressbrake. Does anyone have, or know where I could obtain a manual for this machine? I also need to rewire the machine, open junction boxes with chocolate block carrying 3-phase aren't really my sort of thing!!! It looks like someone has modified the wiring, and it now has two limit switches on the side. One for the bend itself, and one to stop the blade when it returns. I'm guessing the operating sequence should be when you press the pedal and hold it down the blade comes down, release the pedal and the blade stops, to enable you to inch the blade down, and then when it hits the bend limit the blade returns to the top position without needing to hold the pedal down????

Not sure on your model, but ours has limit switches as you describe, but these relate to the lightguards, turning the light guards on/off/mute depending where the stroke of the machine is.
Any photos?

My machine doesn't have light guards. Has a bottom limit switch to set depth of bend, and a top limit switch to stop the blade on it's return stroke. Machine is operated with a foot pedal. Will post some pics

A Model name, serial number may help narrow it down a bit,

One of them could have been added to allow short stroking, when the bend is done, it prevents it from going right back to the top of the stroke.

Speeds up multiple component manufacture no end, and also makes life easier on guarding issues- set it to allow minimal daylight when possible.

The other switch, its probably a safety switch to prevent over stroking, I cant say for sure, but i doubt a simple limit switch is used to control the bend angle, it would be a bit inaccurate i'd have thought.

My Barnes Press Brake has the two limit switches on the side, but they are not supposed to be used for bending. They are just not accurate.
They are just for setting the upper and lower limits of the Tooling.
I fitted a very accurate limit switch to my machine, but even that was not accurate enough to ensure consistency.
Years ago I posted a question on a forum and got phone call from Mr Barnes himself!
He told me the most accurate way of bending with this machine was to make some 'Dead Stops' up
I used some M32 nuts and bolts, welded them to a plate.
I now get the bend close, and then put the dead stops in.
I adjust the dead stops to get the angle spot on, they work a treat!

The current set-up on the machine!! I MUST state that this is how I bought the machine!!! A few modifications both mechanical and electrical are required!!!
