Bargain or not?

Called in to my local welding supply place, They do a lot of trade with heavy industries round about and only supply good gear. Needed a few small bits and pieces,then spotted their "Sale" shelf. Bought a new unopened box of flux core wire, Made in Japan, 1.2mm 12.5Kg, Nippon steel. Sumikin SF-3A-12,What do you more knowledgable fellows know about this wire, Seems to equate to AWS E71T-12. Only paid £12-00 including vat, Have i bought a white elephant?

Nope, Nittetsu SF3-A is good wire, runs well and is normally about £38-45.00 a roll.

This was done with the same wire so it can't be bad.

Yes, copper coated tubular flux cored wire. It must be run with a shielding gas though, preferably an 80/20% argon/CO2 mix.
Push, don't drag, and unless you plan on doing lots of vertical up, it's too big for your little EWM.

Shucks, And i have just sold the Lorch Mpro 252 last week, I was thinking it was going to need a few amps, Biggest set i have now is 180A. Also didn't realise that it was duo-shield, Loks like i will be looking for a local buyer, As i certainly won't be sending it anywhere, You win some you loose some.

Just had what I think is a silly idea, Wonder if any body has ever straightened a piece out and used it as a really thin inside out stick rod?

I'm sure there will be plenty of technical reasons why that wouldn't work. But even without them, and needing a gas to go with it, have you ever tried using 1.6mm rods? They aren't very nice, you certainly wouldn't want anything smaller!
