Balloon gas bottle????

Hi folks, pulled a balloon gas bottle out of the hedge this afternoon, whilst walking the dogs. Its about the size of a small butane (14kg) bottle, but doesn't weigh as much. says Box O Balloons on side. Highly flameable....
not sure what gas inside?.......

Question is can it be used for parts for a wood burner? or a bbq/fire box?
is it worth sodin about with......

If the valve is removeable, would it flush with water like a butane bottle?

If it's highly flammable it may be hydrogen.

I cut a helium balloon bottle up and it was considerably thinner than a propane bottle.

the gas inside is helium its not flamable and those canisters are that thin it wouldnt last long as a wood burner

It sounds like a helium bottle but helium is not flammable. They are lower pressure than welding gas bottles and disposable similar to the ones now used for refrigerant for car aircon systems and only have thin wall so might be a bit lightweight for stove use. They are usually steel, check with a magnet.

Personally I wouldn't bother, look for an LPG bottle instead.

Well if i get a chance later I'll take an angle grinder to it and see how thick it is...,

I made a wood burner from one of these today, exactly the same bottle, but it held expanding foam originally.
I drilled it to vent it out, and when I cut it open it seems to be about 1.5 to 2mm thick.
Easy to work with, and only time will tell if its adequate for the job.
I'll be welding it togather sometime soon, and I'll post pix up.

Id do a few test burns well away from anything you dont want burnt when it melts through and wood makes its escape
Joking aside, thats a very serious possibility. Ive smelted down quite large lumps of aluminium in the firebox of my old workshop wood burner, and if you peek into one running at full chat all the heavy cast iron grilles and liners are usually burning a dull red with the heat. Some thinwall sheet like that would be easy prey for the heat created.

Ive got one of these bottles kicking round for a rainy day in the useful junk pile but in four years Ive never found anything it really would be useful for...

lol on anouther note i like your dell xps laptop i used to have one of them lol.
your bottle may be thin and distort fairly quick with heat i would find a lpg bottle
