Balcony post covers.

My SIL has a holiday rental in Cornwall. It is semi detached and identical to the adjoining house. They both have balconies and both have a couple of rotten posts. Next doors had theirs repaired and had the covers put on the posts as in the pic.
I'm going down in a month to do lots of repairs and this balcony is one.
My SIL wants covers like these on hers as the tops are cracked.

Right, the question is, 1) what have they used, Is it self adhesive roof flashing? and 2) considering it's a holiday rental and people/kids like to play with things, I was thinking of cut folded and welded stainless steel would be better, but is that overkill for how much it will cost?

Stainless steel would look nice, and compliment those shiny stainless railings, whatever they're called.

@roofman, would you know how I would I be best to go about fixing lead so it cant be bent or removed, something like leadmate or is there a stronger adhesive? (Dont really want to nail it)

drill the post then solder it

alternative is drill the post and use an old reference of a round dowel pref stainless steel

theres no glue that can stop lead from being pinched

If there are kids about, I wouldn't use lead.

Stainless would be nice, probably cheaper and less tempting to the light fingered that live amongst us.

If all the posts are the same size, simply get some 4 sided trays folded for you and weld the corners up and a quick polish Attach with plenty of stixall or similar.
If its a rental, for an extra £20 I'd be inclined to have a couple of spares made incase one gets pulled off and lost.
As said, it would go nicely with the rail.

I made stainless post caps for my stairs, bit more involved than you'd need for that, with over folded sides, welded and polished up.

It might be lead but I think that is Flashband as AJL said print some in plastic and glue on.
