hope the parts fit better than the austin 1100/1300 windscreen rubber i bought in jan 2020 where the top left of the seal is totally wrong (can't cut and re join as the moulded corner is totally wrong)

despite emailing them a link to the video and them acknowledging there was a problem and saying they would contact me with a solution never heard any more from them. i bought 4 others from various suppliers and they were all too big in a similar way. i guess they were all made by the same company (baines were cheapest so assume they were first in the chain) and bought by different suppliers. i ended up finding a good used one in the loft and used that

when apprenticed all those years ago that car was b/new....the screen rubbers wern't much better then...
apart from the norm mechanic'ing I used to like doing all the windscreen jobs and upholstery....
thats where I first come across 3M products....hahaha...

Not sure if it true but there were rumours , maybe an urban myth that BMC built a 1300 with 2 doors one side and 1 on the other which wasn’t spotted until the car had been sold so I think a bulging screen rubber wouldn’t be an issue with them . I do remember a new 1300 with a hole in the transmission casing at its pre delivery inspection , BMCs answer” bung it up with Devcon”

20 odd years ago i bought a seal from 1100 specialist earlpart which fitted fine but also got a couple from scrapyards when i bought spare (toughened) screens i heard some years ago of a 3 door mg 1100 bodyshell. i think there was an article in the club magazine when i was a member (we can't supply you with repair panels put can sell you a teddy bear with the 1100 club on it ) i think the article mentioned it being a prototype safety vehicle so kids couldn't open doors into traffic (child locks fitted to these cars anyway) or more likely being a bare shell was used to train workers on building up both 2 and 4 door shells

I once used about £150.00 of Baines rubbers to replace about £15k of rubbers (door, window, etc) on my old C172,

I heard back in the day of a Siera with steering wheel on the right and pedals on the left.

Had a Hillman Hunter estate with basic seats and no opening 1/4 light no waist trim basic door card and seat one side the other was the "top" of the range chrome waist trim cloth seats opening 1/4 light, can't remember if floor was rubber or carpet, there were other small discrepancies.
Any body damage after delivery waxing usually was paint over wax

many moons ago, a mate had an Imp he used to trial. We went to the car wash one time in it & he passed me a towel. “What’s that for” says me “you’ll see” was the answer, the water peed in everywhere! I must admit, it was rebuilt from a scrapper though.

That's actually quite a sensible solution to the problem of rear seat passengers opening the offside door without looking behind them when the car parks up.
