BAE Hawk

Just sorting out some old long forgotten paperwork and I found this, looks like a sales brochure for the Hawk. Thought it may interest a few of you.

When I was younger, one of my parents neighbour used to fly them. He ended up teaching in a local primary school.

They used to fly them out of RAF Valley when my dad was there. We used to train Iranian/Iraqui pilots in them (ironic eh?). One of the pilots went on his first solo flight and got flustered forgetting to use the trim tabs and ended up putting it into the beach at Gwalchmai at full throttle.

Hope you're doing well.

Interesting indeed, never seen anything quite like it for an aircraft.

I never worked the Hawk but they were (are) a great little aircraft. I do believe they had a novel (for the time) three pointed 'phillips' type fastener that were good for screwing in but a mare to remove!

The only Hawker I ever worked was the Hunter. known as the last of the sports models.

Still used by the red arrows, and as jet training aircraft. Did you pop in to the hawker showroom for the brochure

I recall when I was younger watching the Red Arrows doing their training, flying over Kemble Airfield.

One day, my Dad got us close to see the Gate guardian, I think it was a Spitfire.

But it may have been a Gloster Meteor. I know in the family there is a picture.

Later I worked for a company who serviced the fire alarm system on a oak furniture company on the airfield. I was allowed to look at close quarters at the plane dismantling site.

I also Met Mr J Clarkson when he was waiting to be escorted to the Red Bull car. When they fired paint balls from it. I was not allowed near that part during filming.

My dad was in the friendly Gulf states in the 70s to just after the first Gulf war, the UK was keen to sell all sorts of kit to the Arabs, my mate at schools dad was a German tank and missile salesman. Somewhere about I've got a Westland Helicopters sales brochure too.
The RAF treated us to a brilliant free display when they were trying to sell the Arabs the Tornado.

I remember seeing one on the ground at a display years ago and I was amazed how small they were.

What a cool brochure. Was Kingston their head office or did they have a plant there ?

Pretty cool aircraft. I think I remember seeing something where they went supersonic in one with that Dr from D ReAM in the back.
