Bad gas ????? argon

Hello forum, Quick one can you get bad gas???
I get argon cheap of a bloke I know yes yes I know im probably answering my own question, but would like to know if anyone else has experience of it. I weld aluminium a lot and on this new bottle seem to get a lot of crud in the weld floating up. yes ive cleaned cleaned cleaned and wiped down with acetoneand wipe the rod. I have a cheap torch that comes with the tig set and was wondering about the seal on the back cap?

It's possible, gas bottles can be contaminated with oil or moisture, but it's rare. Sometimes they are incorrectly filled, but again, this is very uncommon, but not unheard of. If you have checked your torch for leaks, the torch spares are in good condition and fitted correctly (I've had customers with "gas issues" that had simply installed the collet backwards in the torch restricting gas flow.) and you're happy with the cleanliness of your material and filler, then see about borrowing another bottle from somewhere else for a few minutes to rule out the gas.
