Bad Galvanize on cast iron inlets

Just had a gate galvanised and a lot of the cast iron inlets have came out awful. Some have burst and been left with a black rough finish.

Supplier of cast iron says they don't guarantee them for galvanizing. Once powder coated they will look awful as they are.... How do I resolve the issue? Grind the splatters off??

Are we talking about exhaust gates?

Silicon has a strong effect on the thickness of galvanised layers. CAST IRON has high silicon, mild steel has low silicon....some other elements also have an effect...Carbon is another and will be much higher in the CI

Therefore you are trying to coat two very different alloys. The difference will be obvious but Im surprised its as bad as you describe

Unfortunately its too late now but you should have had it blasted and powder coated....or had it galved before adding the cast iron bits

Any chance of some pictures of your catastrophe.
This sounds like the kind of thing that does not cross the mind of people when getting things galv'd. Would not have even entered my mind.
But will be filed away for future reference; hopefully.

what sort of gates are they? the word inlet makes me think or engine inlets?

however it could also be viewed as a steel gate with cast iron sections?
