Bad experience

Hi everyone, today I've been scared as never before yet .
I was with a friend,he still not have the driving license I'm teaching him to drive on country roads ,far from police, traffic etc.
We make a turn ,my blood became ice ,felt strange, anxiety,felt like to be followed or observed.
I tell him to not stop whatever happens.
I was constantly looking around but seen nothing till an half mile later down the road, on a U turn .
An Opel tigra on a side of the road , lights on ,two inside,3 or 4 in front of it , and other 2 on the left side .
Now that wouldn't be strange,if these were other cars around or an house nearby, we were in the middle of nowhere, and the car was a 2 seater.
Push the throttle , and never stopped till back in town in an illuminated area full of cameras , swapped seat and straight to home .
I'm still scared

In the dark of the night.
They were most likely waiting for someone to get close to do a Robbery

I remember doing a crew change in Brazil years ago, mini bus to the airport, from some small port near Rio. A couple of cars on the quiet road, a crowd of guys, flagged us down. They were dressed in uniforms, but the only Brazilian crew member on the mini bus with us told us "they are not cops, don't say anything, and don't argue". We got off the bus and went to a little bar, drank beer, while 'negotiations' went on with the driver of the bus.
The Brazilian guy didn't get off the bus, just sat in his seat, looking at the floor. He looked terrified, but I never worked with him again so never got chance to ask exactly what had really happened. I assume some sort of 'toll' for using that road.
