Define bad evening?
On the way home from my mothers birthday meal hear a knocking from vans rear suspension. Check and find that one of the brand new dampers installed by garage is no longer connected at the top. Drive carefully down to work, jack the van up, tap cut the mangled captive nut and put a new bolt and nyloc in place. Replace the rear wheel and cross thread one of the wheel nuts. No tap that fits. Steal some wheel nuts from a neighbours van (sorry Rick) and grind one as a tap to clean the threads up in the hub.
Finish up at 10:30. Now I can use my van for all the weekends planned activities.

Poxy drain snapped I could see where the last guy gave up on it. Even had to get my big spanners out to get the filter bowl off again can see the last guys stilsons marks all over it another 12hr day

To add insult, on the motorway this morning the van went into limp mode and I had to turn around a creep back home. All my weekend plans ruined.

P0234 Overboost. Common problem with the turbo guide vanes sticking due to carbon buildup.
The van has done 134k miles so I’m going to bite the bullet and buy a refurbished set of turbos (biturbo 2.0lt).

It was a lovely car, just what I wanted. It was Cotswold BWM launch car so was very well specced.
But my work has changed and I’d done 3K miles in it in the last two years.

TBF a 180ps 2lt van engine is always going to be highly strung.
it’s done 134K and would probably be ok after a dismantle and clean.
But people report that they generally fail not long after.
At £480 for a new manifold and pair of turbos inc vat I reckon it’s worth replacing them for peace of mind.
Rubbish timing though.

take the tubs off and get a blowlamp on the vane rings then a pressure washer to clean them up.
