The white slime that comes out is a brine solution. I used to work in a Poultry factory and the amount you can inject in chicken breast is unbelievable. The machines are called tenderiser or massagers but all they do is put the meat in a high vacuum chamber and inject brine under pressure using a bank of needles. Chicken breast can be doubled in weight.

On the internet there are always mentions of the Dutch being guilty of perfecting and accelerating this practice, never bothered to find the truth. Selling water for £10 plus per kilo is the Holy Grail for those outside of the boutique mineral water industry.

We must be related. Last year my cat deprived us of part of a turkey leg, an uncooked turkey put out to reach room temperature, silly mistake not to protect it, he enjoyed his feast though.

We bought a pork knuckle from the supermarket that was in the short coded stuff, the grand figure of 99p, Mrs C pressure cooked it & left it on the work top with a dish over the top. Some friends called in with their spaniel, which charged in like they do. 15 seconds later, crash bang wallop, dog had been on the worktop, pork half eaten & all on the floor.

Conversely, a friend of mine has three cats and had left half a roast chicken on the kitchen worktop for them (as you do!). A few of us went round to his after the pub, and one of the lads decided to make himself a chicken sandwich…. I bet the cats were well pleased!

Our cat nicked a full steak off my plate when she was a kitten - the steak was bigger than her, she was off with it!!
