Back on the tools, 80kw boiler installation

This job has been on and off since November, last week it came back with urgency, my fitters are tied up so I decided to do it

80kw electric boiler, full site is being degassed and moving to heat pumps, only place for a heat pump here is the roof and structural engineer said no

They do have 400kWp of PV and 200kWh of storage

Hire company cocked up with the press gun or it would be done now, just need to lag it once the boiler is wired (125a 3 phase supply)

Pipework is 35mm to the header turn 42mm existing. The AHU coil has also been replaced

Big enough, only feeding one coil

Most I've seen are massively oversized anyway or in a lot of cases not even really needed

This is a requirement from the boiler manufacturer on anything over 40kw, or I wouldnt have bothered

Vaillant won't warranty any boiler over 40kw fitted with a low loss, they make you fit a plate heat exchanger.

Yeah.....

I had the same discussion with the tech bods, same thing with the 1" unions and needing 35mm, 1 1/4" would have made life muchly easier

The pump can be set in various modes to suit the install

Thats why I hire when needed

Plus they are all leak before press, guaranteed to leak it not pressed or pressed incorrectly a they don't hold for a bit

The lads doing the big heat pumps are pressing 108mm, the tool weighs about 6 ton though

Daft rule really, no benefit to a plate at that size, only ever use plates if we are forced to keep an existing system, but even that is rare these days
