is there a awg guide for car wiring looms rather than checking every item in the car with a meter.
If it's for a road car, or one based off roadggoing parts, just use the fuse ratings to go off.
are you going to use modern thinwire or conventional thick insulation, irradiated pvc, or not, how long is your longest run going to be, is the vehicle canbus or not, is it 6, 12, or 24v. all factors that affect the current carrying capacity of wiring
in that case, find a copy of race and rall car prep book by Allan stainforth, have a look at the loom sugestions, pick your colours, go to your nearest auto factors and get them to supply you with 0.5mm, 1mm, 2.5mm thinwire, this will cover most of your requirments, use 25mm for starter circuits (welding wire is good) .5mm will carry up to 10A, 1mm up to 16A, and 2.5mm up to 30A safely, this should suit most of your requirments, just remember, relays for heavy current draws, and switch the negative(ground) side of the circuit.......... the battery master takes care or anything else when off
