I have a liner that was real tight. First it was the wrong liner (slightly larger in diameter), second it was about 1/4" too long. That caued it to kink at the swan neck.
wish i could get my hands on another euro torch off somebody that i know is working well so i am sure that my problem will be solved .i have a lovely supply of wire coming from welder by bridging the two connections with torch removed .but soon has i put torch back on the poor little feeder adjusting screw has to be wound right down to get a continuous wire coming out nozzle .and i have now learnt this is not right cos has soon has i start welding the wire is going to snap because the ROLLER CANT SLIP ? cant take it to my local repair shop cos dont trust them cos they said i cant use knurled rollers i think they just wanted to sell me one of their mono migs .ok they are good cos thats what i use at my garage where i work .but this is my mc and would like to get it sorted for home . dont really want spend money on new torch if not going to solve problem for sure .all components on torch look like new and seems waste to change it for the sake of badly fitted liner .so which way should i go now folks ??
just want say thanks to everybody who helped me solve my mig problem .used different euro torch at weekend and was welding for hours no problems .should of asked on this forum first extra thanks shenion
Ok, check the liner. Could just be too long. On my two Tweco guns, the liner goes right to the tip. The instructions say leave the liner longer than the guide tube so it sticks out 5/16" when the tip is removed. My gun had 1/2" and it mad a big difference just cutting of the extra 3/16"
Could also be the liner got kinked (ran over it with something heavy, stepped on it while sitting on a sharp edge.
Feed the wire by hand and find where it gets tight. Then pull out and lay nect to torch to find where the obstruction is. Mine was in the middle of the swan neck. Apparently being too long caused it to form a tight 'S' in the neck.
Some guns have a separate liner for the neck. My Clarke had one. I overheated it doing a bunch of welds holding the torch real close to the work (was trying to eek out a bit more power.) The end of the swan neck liner (spring) was all distorted.
Good to here you are back in business. I have two guns for this reason, If one gets screwed up, I have the other to finish what I'm doing until I have time to mess with the other.
The other thing I forgot to mention was the diameter of the liner. I have liners for 0.6, 0.8-0.9 and 1.0-1.2mm wire (also have a 2mm liner I'll never use ) Could be you have one for 0.6mm.
