Hi All

I have a Awelco NU mig185 was working well until the wire feed motor went mad then stopped now it has its moments for working when its wants. It doesn't work at all when you pull the trigger any more. Does anyone know where I can get the PCB broad repaired or

You might try re flowing the solder for the pots as they are mounted to to front and to the pcb so when flexing may loosen the solder joint.

I ll give it a go. I ve contacted the manufacture for a wiring diagram but not heard anything back as yet!

A basic check you can do is to check the motor is good. Mark up which lead go to which terminal on the motor (as it's a DC motor they need to go back the same way they came off or motor will run in reverse!) Now with the motor connections removed, connect a 12 V battery, car or even one of those jumper packs. the motor should turn well as most motors are 12v or greater (usually 24v) That way you can rule out that the motor is faulty.

PS do you have a good pic of the under side of pcb (solder side). did you try re-flowing the solder ?

I did try Re flowing the solder but no luck I ll try and up load a pic of the under side later day. Motor turns fine with 12v.

As the pcb has been repaired before hence the jumper wires and bridging I would suspect that the repairs may have failed. If you can get a meter and meter between the various bits I have marked. Set meter to a low Ohms setting, say less than 200. Then put one probe on say one end of the X and the other end on the other X You should see on meter a very low reading (10 ohms) or even as low as 0.00 (on a digital meter) Do same for the Z's and the T's. If yo zoom in on the digital image you should be able to follow where the tracks should have gone and hence the repair with jumpers. The repairs do look a bit rough!

its a pity your at the other end of the country mate, i would have re-done your wire adds and sorted out the other suspect tracks on that board for you, there are some burnt looking tracks that run up the left of the picture along with some very questionable jumpers .

with a bit of work you could tidy up the board.
