I've nothing bad to say about my divorce Solicitor from way back then (haven't used one since).I do find it a little funny the complaints about cost - the other half works for a big legal company - you know the fees you will incur up front, yet customers take their time, don't send all info, the right info, random info, don't fill forms in, fill them in wrong, don't listen, don't read, don't do as instructed . . .it all takes someone time and effort to deal with, sort out, correct, find the right info, even getting in contact with the customer again seems hard work.
You wouldn't work for nowt, so why should they when they are trying to sort your crap out?
Like all business, engineering included, there's good and bad, cowboys and decent experts - and like all, finding the right one is a bit hit and miss.
Once I'd made my position clear about how I'd like to wind-up things with as little fuss and drama as possible - she just got it done.
But as you say - I had thought about it and went in to the first meeting with a good idea what I wanted, and I communicated and made sure I did what was needed in order to expedite the process.
(In fact, I'd readily agreed with my ex that I'd bring the divorce proceedings - simply because I knew that I'd handle it better).
