Automotive electrical sensor plugs.

I found this on the Surf today and need to know how's best to get the pin out of the plug to repair it.
Is it even possible?

This was for the long deleted EGR valve solenoid so I don't think it's got to do with the current misfiring problem but if this one has failed others might be causing trouble.

Yes they do come out, it’s a de-pinning tool you need, something along the lines of below, they’ll pull out of the back of the plug along with the seal.

Remove the plastic cage/shroud from the inside (front) of the connector if fitted, then use a thin pin (blunt darning need often works well) to release the tabs that hold the metal contact into the plastic housing - again this is done from the front of the connector, usually a channel to the sides or above/below the contact. They are usually just a sticky out bit of metal sticking out of the contact, once pressed in you will be able to pull the connector complete with the rubber seal out of the back of the connector.

You can then replace it, or a quick fix is to solder the wire on and refit the contact, if you do this you have to be careful that the "repair" doesn't foul the plastic housing to interfere with the locking tab otherwise it won't fit back in and lock properly.

It's a bit hard to describe and visualise, but once you have done one, they are all very similar. Try looking for a depinning tutorial for econoseal or superseal connectors which might help

The metal tube part of a cord end ferrule (bootlace ferrule) can be slid down the pin to release the locking ears/tabs.
