I am wondering what peoples views are on Ebay automatic bidding. I have been watching some of the Cheapnese tools on Ebay from a couple of sellers that start at £9.99 and always seem to sell. I noticed two of the same item from one seller went at identical prices despite having different bidders throughout which I don't think is a coincidence. As you cannot now see the details of whos bidding nor their history and automatic 'sniping' seems to be the norm I can see this open to abuse if a large enough group are placing bids on eachothers items to push the price up. If a false bidder wins the sale can be cancelled at a later date and Ebay refund the sellers fees so the seller only looses the listing fee or can use the 'second chance option' and offer the item to the next highest bidder.
Ebay seem to be constantly changing the rules of engagement, I used to enjoy finding bargains on Ebay and sniping at the last second! Automatic bidding has taken a lot of the fun out of it although I can see some benefits to buying if you are unable to bid at the finish time.
