If the swing in your lathe is big enough, would be very easy to make a copy of the motolita wood rimmed ones…

We used to make them like that for the Karts we built at school in the early 1980's.

Cut the middle out of a scrap MGA wheel today, will try to roll a ring in 15mm steel tube filled with fine sand when I get a moment, and some tube, then could finish with a leather steering wheel glove laced on, worth a go. If anyone has a handle similar to my surface grinder, or one I could replace mine with that gives me a cast alloy rim of the correct dia. 9 1/2" OD. I also have a 9 1/2" Mountney alloy / leather wheel,

let me know if he has any of the original bits lying around, like front axle, std. wheels, etc. worth a bit to me!

I may have a few bits somewhere but it's all pretty badly rusted away.

Could you get an outline water jet or plasma cut, for you to dress up and wrap!

Every little helps, I am happy to pay for any bits I can use or repair and use! front axle, hubs, wheels come to mind, but most parts needed..............

I went to the Southern hot rod club swop meet at North Weald airfield in Sunday, a quick visit but very local, actually a nice jumble with a bit of everything.....unfortunately!...........


This one (below left) was only really bought for the boot and bonnet, not too rusty but beaten up and very chopped about, missing a lot of the internals like rear inner wings, half the engine and shelf, most of the boot floor,

I may turn it into a pickup....... These two came from the Beulieu Jumble, And this complete car from Clacton

The ones with no floor were for fairground rides. No pedals either. Are there two holes in the dashboard as some had two steering wheels.

Yes, and he paid a visit to the factory where they are remanufacturing every part of the car. Plus they are refurbishing and remanufacturing all things SU carbs and fuel pumps.

Burlen do not make for sale, any body panels, the parts they do make look very nice but a quick look at their price list..............................

I looked on the Burlen web site & couldn’t believe the prices, 5 grand upwards, one was 13 thousand……. For a pedal car! You can’t exactly go shopping in it, what do you do with it, at that money, you can’t let a child play with it.

I need one (so far) for my grandson to race at Goodwood,

plus a practice car plus a garden hack...... one of my shells is 1.5kg lighter than the rest, the steel changed thickness at one point, plus rust losses, that one may well be the race shell!
