ATV utility trailer

thought I would post up some pictures of the ATV utlity trailer I made last week, unfortunately forgot to take pics before it was painted!








the sides are made from 1.2mm steel and profiled using my box and pan folder. The uprights are 40mm SHS and the drawbar/axle is 50mm SHS.

Mesh sides are made with 30mm SHS for the uprights and 25mm SHS for the crossbars, hinge system is a simple design of a piece of angle welded to the uprights and a short length of round bar welded to the mesh frames, this allows the sides to be easily lifted on and off if required.

That is what I am trying to do, if you check my profile out you will see the address for my website (very basic at the moment).

Making the actual trailer body is fairly cheap - just sheet steel folded into profiles and welded to box section and then galvanised or painted. The thing that makes them expensive is the the runnning gear ie; axles, hubs, wheels and tyres. Being a small 2 man operation, we can't afford at the moment to bulk buy the components which at the moment cost in the region of £160 a trailer, but we can still undercut the big companies like Logic, TFM, Quad-X etc and make a profit.

thanks, this one is for personal use - for hauling firewood from a nearby wood. We usually glavanise them and sell them on, but we wanted to keep the costs minimal for this one as it will not be sold on unless we get a good offer!
