ATV Quad oil seal type?

The rear axle oil seal has failed on Mrs Robo's quad (no comments about overloading it )

Part No.11 here

I could pay £16 plus postage for a genuine one or a couple of quid from a bearing supplier, but do I need a single (R21) or double lip (R23) type?

Take out origional, itll have numbers on it

R23 would be a better seal as it has the additional wiper on the seal to keep the dirt out

I'm keeping the oil topped up so it can still be used, plenty of mowing, harrowing and rolling going on at the moment.

better is always a good thing , its an upgrade .

Plus the seal wipers will probably be on an unworn bit of shaft.

I repair a lot of antique vehicles......most rear axle oil seals are FELT......
parking on a slope often lets the oil out onto the brakes.....plus it creeps out anyway.....
The Cure.....
replace the bearings with seald for life type......SKF and others......
actually cheaper in the long run than new brakes.........
On ur quad replace the bearing as the above along with a new seal.....
Job done forever.....promice....
