I once bought a Sierra which had a different number on the front from the back.....it also had the reg etched on the window..."luckily" it turned out that the window reg was correct.....eventually I ended up with about 5 different log books, all issued incorrectly by Swansea.......they then threatened me with prosecution unless I returned all the useless ones....actually they were all useless but I needed to keep one so I kept the one that was correct except the engine size, 2500 cc (they didnt do one).got to the bottom of it 2dayits all registered and insured correctly BUT the fools in the garage I bought it from have put the wrong number on the plate
instead of ny19...….they read nv19 wouldnt care I got one made for my trailer for a tenner they can give me one of them as well for the trouble and swop them . I work in a few places that have private monitored parks and im exempt from paying gotta ring them up now get them changed

There was a case in the motor home mags a year or so ago, retired couple driving to Dover in an expensive camper being stopped by police as showing uninsured on the computer. Man gets the certificate out, police wouldn’t accept it as being valid & impounded the vehicle. The couple tried ringing the insurance company, but it was Friday evening, so had to wait until the office was open to get verification that insurance was in order, & missed they’re ferry crossing. Apparently the coppers attitude was our computer is always right & you could have printed the certificate.
