I think it's that along with the massively chunky rivets holding it all together! Looks like it would survive several nuclear blasts with ease

I came across this museum by chance when collecting some car spares. As I was on my own, I called in and spent about three hours there! It was / is really interesting with LOADS of engineering machinery, plus mill stuff, cars, bikes, buses etc. A bit of a mini Beamish.

Don't judge the museum on its website as this does noting to sell it!

Always amazed by those old heavy engineering machines. And yeah, my eye was drawn to the old boiler which I thought about making an offer for-but then I have a habit of picking up old boilers and they have given me nowt but grief.

That big lathe in the first shot is sad in a way, like looking at a dusty classic car in some collection knowng it never gets to turn a wheel ever.
It would be much better oiled up, derusted and with the odd string of swarf here and there. As nature intended!
I like to think the original owners and turners would have loved for it and cared for it and not let it get like that.
But then I have never really got the whole collector rivet counting scene, I just like them for what they were.
