Armco strength ?

I'm still working on a design got a new 10' x 8' shed / workshop. Basic frame has already been cut out of new scaffolding poles with KeeKlamps for joints.
Bought for another "project" I'd got a load of new Armco that I'm thinking might be suitable for the floor bearers. There is enough to completley cover the 10' x 8' area. It would be laid aross the frame ie 8' lengths.
Do people think Armco would be strong enough to span the 8' unsupported other than at the edges ?

I think it would be, I did some impact testing on that stuff a few years ago with a car and it's seriously strong

I dont know but I always assumed it would be annealed to absorb the shock when Anto44 hits it.

put some blocks under it either end and get a fat bloke to jump on the middle and see if it flexes or run over it with your car

What are you putting on it? - a bridgeport? or a potting bench?

Been on Google and from what I can see they have a Rp0.2 of around 480 N/mm2....which is quite high....thats the point where the load will deform the steel and it wont bounce back...I think it equates to about 30 tonnes per square inch

I've seen cars hit it and it turns into ribbon but you are just bouncing on it so is day go for it.

Actually good idea to try a test load. I can support 8' of a full length then

What are you putting on it? - a bridgeport? or a potting bench?

Mainly a Chester lathe / miller combo and filing cabinets for storage.
