argoshield size PD

hi all, anyone bother with this size? or do you just go to size X? in the past i've only used fluxed wire (home use) and recently at work i've been using the welder there and its using argoshield light, and i am really impressed with it. much nicer to use - less smoke and spatter. i've read that size PD will supply roughly 50mins of welding. is the baby bottle worth it, or should i just purchase a bigger one?

The Y bottle is the minimum I would consider, the others don't last long enough for the money involved

Depending on how much shielding gas you get through in a year, the Volkszone offer from BOC for Argoshield Lite can easily work out much cheaper. The first 'Y' sized, 2230BAR cylinder will only set you back around £80 including the first year's rental. After that refill work out at well under 30 quid a pop. Pure argon is also available for just a few beer tokens more.

i thought as much. thats a fair comment. i tend to use it on and off, although i have a big car project coming up (engine + gearbox + front suspension transplant in my kit car) and it will be used a lot for that. bigger bottle it is!

A flowmeter is a few quid well invested and can pay for itself easily, either regulator mounted or the peashooter type.
