I noticed my Adams Gas argon bottle was hissing slightly so checked for leaks and it's coming from the regulator joint with the bottle.
I took the regulator off and the brass nipple looks in good condition, (it's 1 year old and never been off since I fitted it).
The bottle looks new and the seat looks in good condition, but there was some blue residue on the seat which I removed with some scotch brite.
I refitted the regulator and the leak is now worse. Pinching it up a bit more made the leak worse.
The bottle valve is fine, so when it's shut off it's not leaking.
I'm unsure wether to blame the bottle seat or the regulator nipple...
I have NOT used ptfe tape and will not do as it should be a metal to metal brass seal.
What's the most likely culprit given that there is no visible problem?
