am i lucky enough that anyone is breaking one of these machines for spares ? i need the rotary amp switch as mine has got fed up and retired itself from service, well it still does work , but only in a couple of positions, a bit like my other half .

Strangely enough I've just got one off ebay (£100)with the same switch problem.
Thought it was worth a go being local pickup.
Works Ok but the guy got a switch that had 3 positions.
If I get into trouble finding the right one I'll see the lekkies at work about switches and post my findings.

Arcos Lincoln

Further to my other post it transpires the switch is 6 way, just that whoever had a go a wiring it could only make 3 ways work. had something to do with the old switch falling to bits and the connections going astray.
If anyone has a diagram I'd appreciate it?
Let you know the progress.

They can be a real ball ache those switches; unless it's exactly the same type (unlikely cause of it's age) you will be into a good few hours head scratching getting the right sequence wired ....good luck!

Further news, "Wayno" posted a diagram for a snapon unit in his thread and it transpires mine is a snapon repainted.
A quick look shows most parts/connections to be similar. Other threads have commented on this being a "badged" welder.
I've asked him to email me the diag and we'll see how it goes.

took up Rosepuds offer of help.
new switch arrived complete with diagram.
hopefully all the arcing will be done at the torch end now!!
switch is rated 16a so would suit many welders of 240v 13/16amp requirements if anyoneneeds such a beast.

and 1 off position as you said in your reply,but your quote above was in reply to a request from someone on the forum searching for a switch for one of these machines. Thanks for your help

hi.new to the forum. iv aquired a arcos lincoln 180c 'snap on' and am having problems.although after reading a few posts it appears that im not alone.
i got the welder and was told it had been working well untill it would weld fine then start spot/stitch welding.this is a feature i think they have? i picked the welder up and put a plug on it 13amp 3-pin. attached the euro torch lead and pulled the trigger. it clicked (sounded like a relay clicking inside) but the wire motor is not rotating. i tried moving the motor by hand and gently with a spanner.solid.could it be seized or is it just very tight.i dont know.i know this has been askede a few times already but if anyone has any info for me or any clue on how i can get this welder working i would be greatful. im restoring a ford capri and am on a serious budget hence why i cant go and splash the cash on a new one.

I've got one with exactly the same trouble , i think it may be pcb failure? but im no expert. i can get the gas solenoid to work but not the wire feed motor , i hard wired my motor to a 12v battery charger and it spins very well under power , so my motor is o.k. you can do the same to your motor for peace of mind just pull the two wire off and rig up two wires to a battery charger .
