arc welder mig welder?

hi there

i need to weld 12mm steel plate and i don't think my 140 amp mig is upto it. would a 200amp arc welder like the plasma part one do the job??

Welcome to the forum.
You're right in thinking your mig welder isn't up to it but tbh, you probably wouldn't need a 200 amp arc welder as you wouldn't do it on one pass anyway.
Having said that, it's not hugely expensive and has a very high duty cycle so tbh, would probably be quite a good buy.
