our lass makes my grub if im working local and she is home otherwise its greggs bakery for corned beef pasties and have kettle and tea gear in case I work for tight customers that don't make tea

They killed off stockton in the late 60s when they ripped [sorry "developed"] the high st up, it had lovely old fashioned buildings & shops & replaced it with the castlegate centre,& it's gone downhill ever since, we loved going there as youngsters.

You’ve hit it right on the nail. The area now covered by the Castlegate Centte had some of the most historic buildings. Today they’d call it cultural vandalism.

Yes those Vacuum systems were made by a company from Leeds called DD lampson, when I worked at Redcar steelworks we were probably some of thier last customers as we used the system transport iron samples from the blast furnace to the met lab for spark erosion analysis.

There was a shop in Birmingham that used that system, there was no cash at the counter, they put your money in the tube up to a cashiers office and your change came back the same way.

Yep, same in the grocer's in my home town of Fraserburgh. Remember the 'twist to close' 'torpedoes' used in the system? Rubber 'rings/seal at either end?
