I have two cars in at the moment, converted to fuel injection but running a convoluted swirl pot fuel system. The car that was brought in yesterday has the swirl pot in the space where the spare wheel fits and the customer would like the space back.
After some research, I have two options... The first used by Middlebridge was a welded in 12mm boss on the bottom of the fuel tank. That supplies a reasonable gravity fed fuel load. The drawback is that the tank will need to be thoroughly cleaned out, original pickup welded up and the new boss welded in, all a bit fraught. However if someone wanted to do that, I'm game!
The other option is that which I used on my project. A new alloy tank that takes a Rover V8 injection pump with a flat flange. It could be another type of pump if the flange fitting was useable of course. The design would be a copy of the original tank, with a corner removed and boxed in. It also needs a mounting position for the fuel sender which probably (like mine) needs swapping for a six hole mount type.
I will see what photos I have.
The other potential requirement is for expansion tanks. The original Middlebridge tank is NLA and is a bulky monstrosity too. I have had an alloy one built by someone here and it is just the job.
Now the original Reliant fit expansion tank is a Mk2 Transit jobby, again NLA so it would be a saleable item if I could offer an alloy version.
