Looking for a nissan navara or l200 double cab, something newer than 2003 maybe up to 2005,Sick of lookin on the net, want to buy one this weekend, will travel for right car.
Have you driven a l200. In 03 I had a navara on loan for a weekend, the following weekend I took a L200 out, got 400yds down the rd and took it back. It was like wading through treacle.
Lol,well, ive driven both, didnt like the interior of the nevara, the l200 was a warrior with the toys and leather, and it had an ecu chip,it was very lively, cant honestly say which is worse or better, both engines tend to have their faults and both are nice looking wagons..Ive got money burning a whole in my pocket, willing to travel down to yorkshire area..
It would need a chip. std BHP for that era was 113 for a L200 and 133for the Nissan. You can chip the Nissan to around 180. The next model Navara was around that, same engine just an ECU remap, so I was told
last L200 i borrowed (04 plate) over a weekend to move the caravan took a fair bit to wind up a lot slower than to 2.8 pajero i had at the time.
most uncomfortable seats just don't like the driving position too car like for a truck was glad to get the paj back
The chiefs at work have had a Shogun, Pajero, Warrior and now another L200 with some pratty name that I forget... I find them all big lumbering things that may well be the dog's danglies in a muddy field but are tiresome, crashy, shuddery and decidedly claustrophic given how big they are, on a motorway run.
The Shogun/ Pajero boss has gone to a Discovery, the service bills are a lot less eye-watering than the Far Eastern offerings ever were. The L200 mostly gets used for carrying bales of hay for the boss's daughter's horse...
On balance the two most useful (and probably profitable) vehicles in the company are my Connect and two Merc Vito vans
Since I have mine they've all turned into glorified, school buses. I wouldn't have any of them now. Service costs were around £150 per 6 months, I kept mileage records at the time so knew the MPG on every tank. Day to day was never less then 24 at best 26. I did get 31 on a run down to Portsmouth.
Slow to start but once under way, no worse than a small car. With a set of Goodyear MTRs on I never got stuck anywhere I went, even having to pull quads and tractors out of fields when I went Enduro racing. Quiet as a mouse at 85 on the motorway.
One the the best things I liked about it was the ability to engage 4wd at speed. Not something you would think would be needed, but following a truck at 60MPH on a motorway it lost a whole wheel.
I had to very quickly move into the outside lane that had a covering 4" of snow, whacked it into 4wd and managed to keep the thing going forward.
I have a 2011 L200 Trojan and have put 60000 miles on it this year mostly motorway and its a lot better than my Astra van was, its classed as a commercial vehicle so on 3000 company van tax and only £20 a month personal use of fuel.
Not driven any others so cant comment but this ones is as good as many cars at motorway speeds
