Anyone on here keep ferrets as pets?

Nice one guys, still thinking of getting a couple of gills as young as possible, it's just talking the boss into letting me keep them in the house but the smell is putting me off somewhat and I know if they live outside I'll not want to be out doors constantly where as indoors they'll be constantly running around when I'm in.

Neutering the hob also helps with the smell. Keep their living quarters clean and the smell should be barely noticeable

Loads of places to get rescue ferrets from that might of had all the vetinary stuff done, save a few pounds!

Just read that the removal of the glands is suposibily illegal in the UK...

I say this to reiterate the point - a bad ferret is not a thing to be on the receiving end of.
Look up "honey badger" and think UK equivalent.

Was over Barry Buddon range years ago ferreting and my wee Gill chased out a family of Kits, wild ones. When I say wild I mean it, they were hissing and barking and leaping around when they saw us there. I told my mate to give me his jacket and I threw it over one, it was going berserk and no way was I going to try and grab it even through the jacket. It burst its scent glands on the jacket and the stench was unbelievable, the kits were left to get on their way and the jacket was left lying there also, my mate got a heck of a bollocking from his mum as it was a new jacket

Didn’t know it was illegal, folk have definitely had it done though. Maybe depends on what the vets attitude towards it is
