anyone near me got a press brake?

now then, is there anyone close-ish to manc (1hr-ish<) with a press brake that would do me a little job in 6mm mild? it's a rear cross member for my 110, simple shape, just a few holes here and there and bosh. makes life difficult not having access to a sheet metal shop any more

Can't see the point of putting something that heavy on your chassis, you smack something or something smacks you you may end up twisting the chassis.

I was going to do it then thought about it, 2mm tin was for me, rather that bend than the chassis.

Just my opinion like.

its more a case that they are a massive mud trap in standard form and rot like theres no tomoro, using heavier gauge steel will allow me to have a more open C section with no dirt traps anywhere, if it every needs anymore work itll be a new chassis anyways

Made mine as a one piece unit, if you get what I mean, no holes or cut out anywhere, like a piece of box section.

Folded the front, top and bottom, then fully welded a piece on the back, then attached to chassis.

Infact I made a spare one, if I remember tomorrow I will get some pics.

how long is it or width ?

if you have a hydraulic press you can bend it in there as they are 300mm wide

Exactly the same size and shape as a standar 90 one, except for a total flat back.

Anyway your question, a press where I work, but to far away for yourself.

cant you cut it and fold it then weld it on the edge it would be easier to do it that way ?

Anyway, if your not bothered about your chassis, why don't you just attach a length of thick walled 150x50 box section to it. Job done.

I'm halfway through making one for my 90 as it wont pass the mot at moment. This will be the fourth one that I know its had! Made it from a short lentgh of 150 x 100 box with fabricated ends. I'll grab a photo later.

Rumours keep circulating that he isn't making them any more, but hopefully they are just rumours without truth. Construction and price is good and had he been around when i did mine, this is where i would have gone.

I knew someone that got fed up with bending his front bumper at off road events so he fabricated one out of 5mm, he changed back to standard after he hit something where the bumper would normally have flexed and let him continue but the new one was strong enough that he just stopped

Thing is I don't often drive off-road in reverse, and as the Cummins is a bit snappy-happy it won't be getting serious off road abuse
